David S. Mitchell received his B.A. in history from Yale College and his J.D. from Harvard Law School. After graduating from Harvard in 2009, eager to test the popular assumption among many Democrats that Barack Obama’s election had permanently changed prospects for talented minority candidates, David moved to North Carolina where he assumed the role of deputy campaign manager for an African-American US Senate candidate. From the ashes of that failed campaign came David’s debut novel, We Hold These Truths. David currently lives in the District of Columbia, his birthplace, and comments extensively on the intersection of race, politics and popular culture.
