John Guare has been awarded the Tony, London’s Olivier Award, three NY Drama Critics Circle Awards and three Obies for such plays as House of Blue Leaves, Six Degrees of Separation (for which he wrote the screenplay), Two Gentlemen of Verona and his Oscar-nominated screenplay for Louis Malle’s Atlantic City. A Free Man of Color was a Pulitzer finalist. Among his plays are Landscape of the Body and the Lydie Breeze plays. He received the PEN/Laura Pels Master Playwright Award and the Gold Medal in Drama from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He’s co-editor of The Lincoln Center Theater Review.
