Lorna Goodison

Lorna Goodison is the Poet Laureate of Jamaica, and the recipient of the 2018 Windham Campbell Prize for Poetry from Yale University. Her many prizes include the Commonwealth Poetry Prize, the Musgrave Gold Medal from Jamaica, and the British Columbia Award, one of Canada’s largest literary Prizes for “From Harvey River: A memoir of My Mother and Her People”. She has published three collections of short stories, ten collections of poetry, and a book of essays. Her “Collected Poems” was published in 2017 by Carcanet Press, U.K. and she is Professor Emerita at the University of Michigan, where she was the Lemuel A. Johnson Professor of English and African and Afroamerican studies.
