Born in Fort Washington, MD
BFA in Illustration School of Visual Arts in New York City.
As a fine artist, Gordon works to achieve the highest level of craftsmanship and beauty. His work has been in International Artist Magazine, and is part of the Paul R. Jones Collection at the University of Alabama. Gordon’s illustrations, are soulful, emotive and technically sound. He is the illustrator for “Crown an Ode to the Fresh Cut” by Derrick Barnes and Patricia McKissack’s “Scraps of Time” series. He has won Caldecott and Coretta Scott King Honors, as well as a Society of Illustrators Gold Medal for his work.
Gordon C. James lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife Ingrid and their children Astrid and Gabriel and their dog Rascal.
