Sheena C. Howard is an award-winning writer, filmmaker and scholar. She is the founder of The NerdWorks Project, an organization focused on portraying positive representations of marginalized populations, through arts and education. Howard is the recipient of the 2014 Eisner Award for her first book Black Comics: Politics of Race and Representation. Howard is the editorial-author of the first ever, Encyclopedia of Black Comics. She is also the author of Black Queer Identity Matrix and of Critical Articulations of Race, Gender and Sexual Orientation. Howard is the writer, producer and director of Remixing Colorblind, a documentary about the ways in which the educational system shapes our perception of race and “others”.
